I don't know how I would feel about the increasing population if I lived up north.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5616731418643613691.post-35741210204514053332011-04-19T22:47:36.104-05:002011-04-19T22:47:36.104-05:00The comment period for the proposed Great Lakes de...The comment period for the proposed Great Lakes delisting rule is 60 days, although I'm not certain exactly when that period starts. I think the other article is only referring to the Northern Rockies wolves when they say it's the first time an animal would be removed through legislation alone. The "rider" for the Rockies wolves was in the recent budget bill. The Great Lakes delisting rule is in response to petitions from the states involved, which are based on more scientific reviews.Tim Olesonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02131785777822329682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5616731418643613691.post-1132057162125441822011-04-19T10:08:09.233-05:002011-04-19T10:08:09.233-05:00Glad to help, Tim. Great coverage, by the way.

Do you know how long the comment period for the Midwest pops will be?

Apparently, this is the first time an animal has been removed from the endangered species list through legislation alone (rather than scientific review), according to this article: http://planetark.org/enviro-news/item/61785. I thought that was interesting, especially with the local DNR's eagerness to delist.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5616731418643613691.post-58190940255669733712011-04-17T21:17:33.631-05:002011-04-17T21:17:33.631-05:00Great post, Tim! It's such a beautiful animal (even though I'd never want to be too close to one).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
